The Problem
Traditional social networks are organised around who you follow, not where you live. Neighbourhood life — what is happening around you, the people nearby, local businesses, events and trusted local information — is scattered across group chats, posters, word of mouth and disconnected apps.
The Product
I am building My Neighbour from the original idea through product strategy, problem-solving, experience design and delivery. It is organised around where you are: users select their neighbourhood and it becomes the centre of a hyperlocal feed, resident interactions, a marketplace with buyer protection, events with digital ticketing, local business discovery and trusted official updates through Your Neighbour.
Core Journey
Select your neighbourhood
Discover what's happening around you
Interact with other residents
Buy, sell and attend
Access trusted local information
Product Thinking
The core insight
People don't just exist online. They live somewhere — and physical location can be the foundation of a modern social network.
Location over graph
Traditional social networks are organised around who you follow. My Neighbour is organised around where you are.
No followers, no following
The platform deliberately does not use followers or following. People can discover and interact with others around them without needing an existing social connection.
Official vs. community
Your Neighbour is the official platform identity for trusted local information — news, traffic updates and alerts — clearly distinguished from ordinary user posts.
Trust in transactions
Marketplace transactions are escrow-based with buyer protection, so buying and selling nearby feels safe.
Nigerian identity
The visual and cultural direction is distinctly Nigerian without relying on stereotypes — contemporary, premium, warm and human.

My Product Work
Product concept & definition
Defined the product as a digital layer for neighbourhood life, organised around physical communities rather than social graphs.
Feature architecture
Shaped the platform across social networking, local discovery, marketplace, events, local businesses, messaging and trusted information.
Trust & transaction design
Designed escrow-based transactions and buyer protection into the marketplace experience.
Visual & cultural direction
Directed an identity that feels contemporary, premium, warm and distinctly Nigerian.
Key Product Decisions
Problem
Requiring an existing social connection excludes the neighbours around you.
Decision
Remove followers and following entirely and organise the product around physical neighbourhoods.
Reasoning
People should be able to discover and interact with others around them without an existing social connection.
Outcome
A social network built around where you are, not who you follow.
Problem
In most community feeds, rumour and verified information carry the same weight.
Decision
Introduce Your Neighbour as the official platform identity for news, traffic updates and alerts.
Reasoning
Trusted local information needs a clearly distinguishable source.
Outcome
A clear distinction between official information and ordinary user posts.
Problem
Peer-to-peer marketplaces fail when buyers and sellers cannot trust each other.
Decision
Make escrow-based transactions and buyer protection the default for marketplace purchases.
Reasoning
Trust is the precondition for local commerce.
Outcome
A marketplace people can transact in with confidence.
Let's Connect
I'm always interested in conversations about building useful products, solving complex problems and taking ideas from concept to reality.
